Bed Bugs
Bites in a line on your skin, or a dark spot on the mattress seam.
• WHAT YOU SEE
A line of bites you didn't have last night, or a small dark spot along the mattress seam that wasn't there before. Sometimes it's a faint, sweet smell in the bedroom that's hard to place. None of it is definitive on its own, which is exactly why we don't quote a bed bug job over the phone.
• WHAT WE SEE
Most bed bugs stay within a few feet of where you actually sleep: in the box spring, behind the headboard, along the seams and folds of the mattress itself, rather than spread across the room. Their eggs are the real obstacle, since they shrug off a single treatment and hatch a second wave a couple weeks later if nothing follows up. That's why an inspection comes before anything else here, confirming what's actually present and where, rather than treating on a guess. A confirmed case almost always needs more than one visit to actually close out.
• HOW WE FIX IT
Inspection first, always, to confirm what's there before anything gets treated. Then a targeted treatment of the harborage areas we found, the box spring, the headboard, the mattress seams, rather than a blanket spray across the whole room. The follow-up visit inside the egg cycle isn't optional here; it's the part of the treatment that actually gets the survivors the first pass missed. We'll walk through what to expect between visits, since bed bugs are one of the few jobs that takes real patience to close out completely.
• WHEN THEY SHOW UP
Bed bugs don't follow a season the way an outdoor pest does; they're active indoors year round, driven by travel and secondhand furniture more than temperature. Activity can spike after a trip, a visitor, or a used piece of furniture coming into the house, regardless of time of year. The bedroom is where we focus first, since that's where people spend the most stationary time and where bed bugs concentrate as a result.
• WHAT THE PROS KNOW
Most bed bugs are within a few feet of where you sleep, and their eggs shrug off the first treatment. The follow-up visit is not optional; it is the treatment.
• WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY
The technicians are the reason people stay.
We have been very pleased with Clae Pest Control. Robby is particularly great to work with. Not only is Robby personable and friendly, he is very knowledgeable and has many tricks up his sleeve. He also has followed up to make sure that his services are working appropriately which has been such a relief. Communication is also fantastic, and they can text to confirm/change appointment times. 100% would recommended.
Great experience so far. Called due to hearing some sounds in the wall of our old OP house. Fast and responsive, did a thorough inspection, no high pressure sales. They didn't find definite evidence of mice, and even though I offered to just pay for service they insisted on putting out baits for free to see if I actually needed anything. The baits have caught a mouse so will be having them come back for full service.
